PR Account Director – Crisis Communications - Ex journalist
A specialist crisis communications and reputation management consultancy is seeking an experienced Account Director to join its growing team. This boutique agency works with clients across sectors such as education, charities, finance, healthcare, leisure, and the public sector, providing expert advice on a range of sensitive issues, including regulatory challenges, workplace culture concerns, legal matters, and crisis preparedness.
The Role
This is a newly created position, offering the opportunity to work on high-profile cases and contribute to crisis readiness strategies. Key responsibilities include:
- Advising clients on urgent reputational issues, developing communication strategies, and managing media and stakeholder relations.
- Anticipating media coverage and guiding clients on proactive and reactive responses.
- Creating crisis readiness materials, including strategic protocols and advisory documents.
- Delivering crisis management training sessions.
- Supporting new business outreach, including preparing proposals.
- Contributing to the agency’s marketing efforts through content creation, webinars, and industry discussions.
The Ideal Candidate
- 5+ years’ experience in a national media outlet – ideally with a background in education, charities, healthcare (NHS), finance, or leisure.
- Alternatively, experience in court and inquest reporting will be considered.
- Outstanding writing skills are essential.
- Prior experience in an in-house or agency communications role is desirable.
